At Wombat Rescue, we prioritise the safety and well-being of our volunteers, carers, beneficiaries, and all individuals involved in our activities. This Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy outlines our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment, minimising our impact on the environment and the responsibilities we share in achieving this goal.
1. Commitment: We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for everyone associated with Wombat Rescue. Our commitment extends to preventing incidents by identifying hazards, assessing risk and implementing effective control measures.
2. Legal Compliance: We operate in accordance with all relevant health and safety laws, relevant permit or licensing conditions, regulations, and standards applicable in Australia.
3. Risk Assessment: We conduct regular risk assessments for our activities to systematically identify hazards, evaluate risks, and implement appropriate controls to minimize the likelihood of incidents or incidents.
4. Training and Education: We provide necessary training, resources, and information to our volunteers and carers to ensure they understand the risks associated with their roles and know how to perform their tasks safely.
5. Reporting and Communication: All hazards, incidents, near-misses, and health concerns must be reported immediately to the designated responsible person. We encourage and promote open communication regarding HSE matters.
7. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Where appropriate, we provide necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to volunteers, carers, beneficiaries, and all individuals involved in our activities to minimise risks and ensure their safety.
8. Consultation and Participation: We encourage input from all individuals involved in our activities regarding HSE matters. This includes volunteers, carers, beneficiaries, and all individuals involved in our activities
9. Continuous Improvement: We regularly review and update our HSE practices to incorporate lessons learned, emerging risks, and best practices, aiming for continuous improvement.
10. Responsible Persons: Wombat Rescue designates Shelby Hinde as responsible for overseeing HSE matters and ensuring compliance with this policy.
11. Non-compliance: Non-compliance with this Policy may result in appropriate corrective actions, up to and including the termination of involvement with Wombat Rescue.
We all share the responsibility for HSE at Wombat Rescue. By adhering to this policy, we can ensure a secure environment that allows us to carry out our mission effectively.
